monday. enough said

It's been a really long time since I had a really bad Monday so I guess I was due. It all started with an epic interview in Scarborough (and not in a good way), followed by the slowest afternoon at work. Then my plans for the night got screwed and I ended up staying in to watch the Jays game. If it wasn't for A.J. Burnett I probably would have called in sick today just to restore some balance.

There may not have been a lot of hits last night, but sometimes less is more. It was the perfect way to redeem the crappy day, and a great way to open a a series against the division leaders.

Burnett had 10 strike outs in 7 solid innings, giving him even more of an overall lead in the AL with a total of 149 this season. In case you aren't impressed by that, he also picked off a runner at first base.

There were a few close calls (bases loaded, a missed out at 3rd), but the defense came through in the clutch with a sweet double play in the top of the 7th. Back-to-back triples in the bottom of the 8th didn't hurt either.

Moral of the story: sometimes you just need to swing at that first pitch.

pretty good game last night. our division is a curse. as if it wasn't hard enough competing against the yanks and red sox all summer now we gotta put up with this rookie-fused-mutant tampa bay team. those fucks got a nice buffer zone going.
