Dear Lord Simcoe, thanks for founding York, abolishing slavery before the Brits, giving us trial by jury, and a long weekend in August. To celebrate all you did, this meal is for you:

• ribs with BBQ sauce I made in a secret lair in my basement
  
• Barese sausage, homemade sausage from Carlo, and hot sausage
• corn on the cob
• grilled eggplant, zucchini, and peppers with basil and garlic from the garden
• Jamie Oliver salad (if you don't know what that is by now you haven't been paying attention)
• quinoa with mint, parsley, Spanish onions, rice wine vinegar, lemon juice
• pasta salad
