On September 2nd my 2 month contract is up, and on September 3rd my new 5 month contract starts. I've reached the pinnacle of 2 annual projects and I'm excited to get them off my desk. The next big tasks are a bit more up my HR alley - new hire orientations and speed mentoring - and the familiar waters will be a nice break from the unknown. Still learning those dam acronyms though.
Contract extensions are nothing new for me, but this one comes at a key point because last week I met with the bank to get a mortgage, and with the real estate dude to check out potential new abodes. Knowing there will be a steady paycheque for a while longer helps because there is only so much fun I can cut out of my lifes. And although I don't have expensive tastes, I don't want to live in a place that smells like 8 kinds of take-out, or was decorated in the late 80s. Picky, I know.
