it's a beautiful day outside, the sun's full in the sky

A sure sign that I am officially a grown-up: sleeping in for me now means staying in bed until 9:00am on a Saturday. What happened to the days when I could lay in bed until 1:00 (or like 2:30 on a really good day), then roll out and move to the couch for the rest of the afternoon? Ah, to be young again...

Because I'm a responsible grown-up, the big plan for today is to clean my room and organize the disaster that has become my desk. I'm still going to stay in my pj's and listen to the entire PJ catalogue on my i-pod while I do it though.

For lunch tomorrow I'm seriously contemplating the idea of making pasta from scratch, but the one thing holding me back is fear of offending my nonna if I don't do it her way. Maybe I'll just stick to pies instead and avoid the confrontation.

The sun shining off the snow outside is such a welcomed change from the gloom of this week. When I close my eyes and lie on the edge of my bed where the sun has warmed up the blanket, it's almost like I'm on vacation. Almost, but then my dad knocks on the door and asks if I want a coffee. Not exactly the cute cabana boy with strawberry margaritas that I was hoping for.
