how d'you like dem apples?

I went apple picking with the DiPasquale ladies today. Saw/ate/picked tons of Empire apples that I can't wait to bake with. Apple pie, apple crisp, apple tart, apple sauce, apple butter, apple crumble, apple juice, apple martini, apple...well you get the idea.

The crazy apple lady we ran into by the red delicious trees gave us some sound advice: don't be discouraged by the fungus on the Japanese apples. Once you crack through it, they are delicious!

You have to respect the orchard.

respect, eh mil? does that include treating apple cores like soccer balls, and breaking into rusty old school buses? i think so ;)

That bus keeps reminding me of the one from Into The Wild.

these are sweet. weird fact; one of my fav things to do back in the day was huck crab apples at school buses from atop the hill at woodbridge public onto hwy. 7. :)
p.s. as much fun as it was i don't do it anymore. :(

I had a crabapple tree in my front yard growing up. We always tried to get the neighbor we didn't like to eat them. she never did. she was too clever.
