Michael Kors chocolate brown purse for $140 before taxes (it was $300 originally). Coach had everything on sale and we bought 2 purses for $200. I found Nine West purple strapy sandals for $20 (I have never bought anything from Nine West using $5 bills!!!). Anne Klein linen wedges with red leather lining and a gold buckle were $40. A 3-piece work out outfit from Adidas came out to less than $60. Then there was the dark tan clutch (Fossil), the green and white silk top, and white/gold/black bangle (Banana Republic), and the brown on brown capris (Anne Taylor) all of which were 30 – 40% off. OPI nail polish was “buy 2 get 1 free” so Crizia and I gave ourselves midnight manicures while we watched TV and ripped the tags off everything.
Asides from the shopping the best part of the weekend was the non-stop laughter. Sally G was at the top of her game and she and Violet kept us in stitches all day. Crizia and I made fun of our dads while the 2 “seniors” cracked each other up with stories of their parents and the stupid things they say/do. I think the thought of retirement is bringing out the best in both of them. The people sitting next to us at dinner must have thought we were drunk, but after 10 hours of shopping we were just delirious and giddy.
My personal highlight of the trip was on the ride home. We were all decked out in old (cough, cough) clothes and shoes and we had our receipts ready to declare. So we’re standing in line at Customs to pay, I ask my mom for her receipts and she hands me just the 1 and says “here you go”. When we get back in the car and drive off, she turns to look out the back window and whispers, “we are done right? There are no more stops, we’re in Canada now?” It turns out that Sally (aka, the Boarder Bandit) stuck it to the Man big time by "forgetting" about a few key purchases. She is getting feisty in her old age I tell you.
